Morbosa's transformation was a result of a dire encounter with the hag’s curse that permeated the marshlands. Consumed by its malevolence, Morbosa's humanity was stripped away, leaving him as a tortured, undead creature of the mire.
 
The Swamp Zombie was once a humble villager named Traden in the outskirts of the Mirewood Marshlands, his life took a tragic turn when a dark plague descended upon his community. The plague, a foul curse created by Morvina, turned the living into mindless, decaying abominations—zombies bound to serve an ancient, malevolent force. Traden, now transformed into a Swamp Zombie, became one of the first victims of the plague. He was consumed by an insatiable hunger for flesh and his consciousness was submerged in a state of perpetual torment. His body deteriorated, covered in rotting flesh and tangled vegetation, blending him seamlessly into the murky swamp surroundings.
